Comment:

After bringing my laptop home from the school network, i am no lnger able to access any secure sites from my computer - anything with a password or a private sector and i get a 'refused connection' in Mozilla and an 'unable to find page' in IE. the other PC's on my home network have no problem connect to secure sites w/o difficulty. turning off the firewall and/or changing browser privacy settings have no effect.

Try this.

In IE, go to tools, internet options, advanced and check USE SSL 2.0 and also check USE SSL 3.0.
