HI I wanted to dual boot my computer with xp and 98. I also have 2 separate harddrives. I installed 98 first onto D: Then i installed XP on C: Now I cant access my D: drive at all. I cant even get into 98 I can see the drive through Computer Management and its not assigned any letter. Both systems are FAT32 and XP drive is set as system and 98 drive is set as active. I think the only way to get it to work is to delete the partition and repartition it. The problem is if i delete the 98 partition then will all my files on 98 be gone. It even says that in computer management. I dont know what to do. Is there any way to access the D: drive so i can get to my important files that are on it? Or do i delete the partition?? I need help as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

Open up your pc...replace cable on D: drive with cable from C:...make sure D: drive is jumpered as master...by doing this, the D: will become C:...boot up and see if you can get there. If it comes back with message "no boot record", then boot from disk...enter 'fdisk /mbr' and reboot.

oldest system first then newer system. If you want 98 to see xp it will have to be a fat32 reverse the master and slave settings as madman says this is the first step
