Can somebody help me please!

I can't get access to my CD rom or DVD drives anymore from windows file explorer. The ONLY way I can get access to it is opening any software that accesses the drive on its own, like windows media player, or a DVD software, then I can access my drives from the explorer. It's a big hassle to open media player first and then access the drive for files. I don't want to have to reinstall windows. That's another big hassle. Can somebody please tell me what I should do?

thanks in advance

Remove the drives from the device manager and also delete all value data from upper and lower filters in the registry and reboot the PC.

0. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

1. Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

2. Delete all value data from the UPPERFILTERS and LOWERFILTERS. Note (Do not delete the key or the multi-string values. Delete only the data values).

3. Exit Regedt32.

4. Shutdown and restart.

You might want to look at this page first.

There is a section toward the bottom of the page that would be of interest.
