My computer will not boot into the normal windows environment, but it can boot into safe mode. I'm trying to access my desktop computer running Win98SE from my laptop with a crossover cable. Whenever I do a search for the computer it doesn't find anything and I know everything is setup correctly. I have file and print sharing enabled and they are both on the same work group. I am able to ping back and forth. I can find my desktop computer in the normal windows environment. Can you not access other computers in safe mode? The safe mode that I am in is the networking enable mode.

Windows 98 in safe mode does not load any network drivers. If you want to back your data up you will probably need to have a Zip drive or CD Burner to get your data.

It's not my windows 98 computer that is in safe mode. It is my laptop computer which is running WinXP Tablet Edition that is in safe mode. I'm trying to access my desktop computer (which is running Win98) from my laptop (which is running WinXP) from safe mode.
