scanner will not register in control window
device manger yellow flag device, error code 39 drivers missing or corrupt

Go to the Canon website and re-download the drivers & software then install.

I have downloaded and installed the software from the canon website and the same problem occures, I have called canon and went thru all the steps they provided with no results.
could it be a registry problem that the scanner won't register

Try running a registry cleaner after disconnecting the printer, removing it from the start menu and removing any software related to the device using the add/remove programs in control panel.

Download and run both the cleaner and registry modules of Ccleaner Slim. Get it below.

thanks for information, i use ccleaner already but i tried
all you suggested and nothing seams to work, the scanner
still won't register. there must be a problem with my laptop as this was not the first printer that would not scan. i had the same problem with a hp all in one.
