cannot view https web sites

Every time I try to go to a secure web page i.e https sites i am receiving "cannot view page". Can any one help? I've tried a couple of things but no joy. Maybe I should re install internet explorer 6 and see if this helps?

Try a few of these suggestions: http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/secure.htm http://www.vcn.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=164 http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=5311 These were the first three found on Google I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
