I have searched every where and I can not get an answer to this problem, this forum is my last resort. Here are my Specs:
AMD XP2800
Soyo Ultra Platinum Dragon KT400
1 GIG RAM
ATI 9700 All in one
Audigy Platinum Sound Card
Yamaha 48x Burner
DVD 16xI have installed XP professional and all the drivers for the sound card, video card etc.. Everything was running fine until I installed the Java Machine and then I started to get my problem.
Every time I go to shut down my machine I get an error message that says: “END PROGRAM – C:\Debuglog.log” (this is in the title bar) and the body of the message says: “This program is not responding. To return to Windows and check the status of the programs, click Cancel. If you choose to end the program immediately, you will lose and saved data. To end the program now, click end now.”
When I check the event viewer I get Event ID 1073.
Now I can not shut down unless I say end now, and this is irritating because I have an ALL in Wonder Remote control and it sucks having to get up to shut down my computer, plus I hate error messages!
I checked Microsoft and their answer to the situation does not help and I have done many searches (even in this forum) and no luck. Common sense would say do not install the Java But as we all know Java is needed for a lot of things (websites etc).
Is there anyway of solving this issue?

What version of Java. I assume it was Microsoft Java. To check your version Start Run Cmd Jview. Latest version is now 3810.

http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html
This is a download site. On there it states that once Microsoft VM is installed it cannot be uninstalled. I could find no reference at all on the Microsoft sites. You may be faced with a reinstallation of XP.
What makes you sure that Java VM did thid to your machine. I have installed Java on several with no problems. Have a good look through your system before you do anything drastic as I think there is some other factor causing this problem.
Good Luck.

Look here. There may be something that you can try.

Thanks I think I am going to have to reinstall XP and not install Java. Like you Teri I have installed Java on many (about 34) different machines and this computer (mines just my luck) is the only one that has this problem. My reason for thinking that it is the Java is because I have been shutting down and restarting the computer constantly (due to the installation of programs) but as soon as I installed Java Machine I got that error message. It only takes 15 mins to install XP so unfortunately I am going to try and install it again and see what happens cause there does not seem to be any information on this error anywhere that I have seen.
Thanks for you help.
