Hi, I'm trying to share the internet connection on this computer with other computers on the LAN. I got two network cards , one that is connected to the ethrnet HUB 9For the LAN) and one that is connectred to my cable modem. I can browse around LAN and Internet normally. But when i want to share the internet connection with the LAN (network connections=>right-click on Internet=>Properties=>advanced=>share internet with other users) it sais : Cannot install Internet Connection Sharing: The selected service is not an installed service. I tried removing the two Network cards from the hardware list and reinstalling them to no avail... This PC used to be a mmber of the LAN , but the HOST on wich the ICS service was successfully running was too slow (1ghz) so we moved it to this PC. I translelated the error messages and some windows terms from dutch to english so they wont be literally as in an english windows version , ill pate the error message in Dutch here: Er is een fout opgetreden tijdens het instellen van Internet-verbinding delen. De opgegeven service is geen geinstalleerde service.

What would be at risk if you installed SP2? ...I'm not altogether certain that this would begin to solve your problem. Beauty of the high sierra, and she's looking out for you.

Have you checked the services in your computer management? Does it show that these service is running or disabled?
