Hello everyone,
My sister is unable to send mail through Outlook Express 6.0.
She can receive just fine.
She is on a Dell Laptop, Inspiron 2500 running WinXP.
We have contacted the ISP provider which is Bellsouth and have yet to resolve the issue.
They confirmed that all of the settings are correct within Outlook Express. There is no firewall installed.
Not connected through a router.
Ran Spybot, CWShredder and AVG.
Nothing found that should cause the problem and fixed the few items found by Spybot.Tried to Repair Internet Explorer.
Uninstalled and Reinstall Outlook Express.
Deleted the Account in Outlook Express several times and reinstalled.
Here is the log file from HiJackThis:

Hi Mesich
Is it all mail accounts or just selected ones ? eg like Yahoo
Still could be incorrect SMTP server addresses.
Also, some Yahoo mail addresses require Server Authentication for outgoing mail server.I have quite a few Yahoo addresses, with different country codes, and some can go through with the Yahoo SMTP server adddress, some reuqire the ISP SMTP server address, and if connected to broadband/cable, all I need put for the SMTP addresss is mail ( with nothing else written after it )
Can you send using the ISP's webmail feature ?
Regards
Krystyna

Hi Krystyna, hello everyone,
Thanks for the response. I hope all is well down under.
She only uses the one email account. My dad has the laptop and setup one of his email accounts and it would not send either.
I forgot to post the exact error message that she is receiving.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
We are going to work on it again in about an hour.
Thanks again for your response. I have a couple of emails I will forward you regarding swappable drives. Yes, they are still coming in. :-)
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Krystyna, Jeruvy, hello everyone,
Thank you both for the replies.
After trying many different things and spending over 2 1/2 hours on the phone with the ISP provider it was finally discoved. The ISP had blocked port 25.
This was the first thing I asked them when talking to them on the phone. At each level of the technical support I asked the question, up to tier 3. Response was "no we never block port 25".
Not sure what my sister or her husband did to have them block the port and they wouldn't tell me. She is calling them personally to find out the reason.
I am going to set her up an email on one of my webhost.
Thanks again for all the responses.
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Krystyna, Jeruvy, hello everyone,
As I stated in my original message, this is on my sisters computer and not mine. She is several hundred miles away from me.
I hope you 'forgot' to pay them.
I would have forgoten to pay them, along with other things that would have made them forget me. :-))
Best Regards,
MesichBest Regards,
Mesich
