Cannot run two device installations

I am trying to install a new device. But everytime i go to the control panel and click on add hardware it gives me a error message saying" You can install only one device at a time.Another device instalation in underway, when it is finished you can try this wizard again.
I tried restarting and trying to install, but i got the same message.
I use windows Xp prof
