Hi some time ago my hubby installed yahoo
instant chat. Now we decided as the kids
have stopped using it to uninstall it, so
we did. BUT!!!! Now it is still in the TOP
tool bar as a icon, every time we enter
Internet explorer to go on the internet it
keepsswitching on. I have tried renoving the
icon by LEFT
click on it but it will not allow you to remove it that way. I have tried going in to TOOLS to remove it and still cannot remove it. Does any one have any idea how to remove this program for good please? Many thanks in advance!

I am no expert and do not use IE, but maybe your
chat is installed as a PLUGIN. Look inside the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS

Look at the file names for something that resembles Yahoo or Chat. For example, if you have Acrobat Reader, then its PLUGIN has the letters *pdf* in the file name.
I do not have chat so I do not know what the file name would be.

Removing PLUGINS does not affect IE operation.
They just give the browser added features.

Remove a plugin to a different location, then close IE, then open IE, see what happens.
If that does not fix it, you can put the plugin back into the folder, and all will be back to what it was before.
--------------
Other than that someone else will have to help
you.

If this helps at all, try going into View-toolbars-customize... and remove it from there, tell me if it helped!
