Subject: Cannot Reinstall XP
OS: XP
CPU/Ram: 900/128
Model/Manufacturer: Dell
Comment:

Startup always fails, giving various blue screen messages:
"DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS THAN EQUAL"
"PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA"
"SPECIAL POOL DETECTED MEMORY COURRUPTION"
"MEMORY MANAGEMENT"

Since there is no single message and a lot of parameters, I have no idea where to start.
When I start in Safe Mode, you can perform one or two actions but the system quickly reverts to another Blue Screen.

Tried to reinstall Windows, booted direct from the CD, got almost all the way through the install and got “IRQL Not Less than Equal", fourth parameter 0X80828DD0.

Is there an action I can try first to dump all the info on the hard drive and then reinstall?

Or what about replacing hard drive and start clean. Or could mother board be corrupted?

Any help would be appreciated

Phil

To start with, 128MB isn't enough RAM to be running XP. Most of your error messages are memory related so the 1st thing you should do is run memtest86:

http://www.memtest86.com/download.html

If any errors are found, the RAM will have to be replaced.

RAM errors might be from dirty contacts. Insert and remove the RAM 4 or 5 times and then see how it goes. If you still get the same errors then run the memory test.
