Cannot read photos stored on CD

I have upgraded from Win ME to XP, and at the same time installed MCAfee Internet Security Suite, Ad-Aware SE and Spy Search & Destroy. Since then, although I can save photos to new CDs, I cannot read previous stored photo CDs. Windows XP does not register any data on the disk at all. Accessing through other software, such as Adobe Photoshop does not work either. Can anyone suggest anything ?

Are you having problems accessing the files, or accessing the cd, or accessing the .psp/jpg/tif?

I do not have another computer. This is an upgraded OS on the same hardware.
The problem is in accessing the files on the cd. I think that they are all jpeg but at the moment I cannot get windows XP to register that there is anything on the disks. More recent disks, where I have saved newer photos successfully onto RW CDs using Windows XP, seem fine.
