Trying to install XP over an eval. edition of Win2000 and when the boot menu comes up and I select XP setup, I get 'cannot read from disk' error. I can still go into win2k but am stuck as I'm simply trying to upgrade. should I do a clean install w/xp? If i do, will I lose data? thanks

Brandon,
It's not recommended to upgrade you OS. The best thing to do is to do clean install, and use you will lose all data on the hard drive. ( Try to back up as much as you can)
When you are installing windows XP and it prompt you to format the drive, Choose Full format and not the Quick one.
Just Curious Are you trying to install Windows XP from a backup CD ? Or Original win XP CD ?.
