I cannot open any files whatsoever. All of the exe files cannot be opened as well as any other file. The only reason i can get to the internet is because I have a shortcut on my startup bar. I don't understand what's going on. Any help is appreciated.

sorry, in addition, all of the files on the startup bar have a .lnk extension added on. Websites suggest that I have a Sircam virus or something.

Go to the link below and download & run the Fixswen.inf file.

"Save the fixswen.inf file to your local hard disk, right-click on the file and choose install."

"A Setup INF file to undo registry changes made by W32/Swen@MM and other threats that prevent REGEDIT, BAT, COM, EXE, PIF, REG and SCR files from running."

Fixswen Tool

I'd also suggest that you then update your virus definitions and run a full scan.

I could not fin the sircam32.exe file.

I'm trying to do fixswen.inf, but I cannot install the inf file. The best i can do is view it in notepad, but I am unsure how to edit my registry from this information. Any help on editing my registry would be greatly appreciated.

Kelly's fix worked! It didnt work in normal mode, so I switched to safe mode with command prompt and typed in "regedit -s "C:\path of the file\linkrestore.reg" and it worked :-). Thank you Chuck 2 and Tufenuf for your help.
