cannot logon, domain error

Specs: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, 2.66ghz\4gb
my friend has a windows xp laptop, acer laptop, but he changed the "domain" from something, to MSHOME, was that a bad idea? well now he cant logon... need help here!!!

does he still have access to the domain network? If so he should join it back to the domain and the properly setup a local account so he can then go to a workgroup

when he tries to write the password, it says it cant make him log on to his user, "control that you password or domain is right", or something... but we tried installing windows xp AGAIN, but his computer wont read the "booting" files... so we just REALLY need help with this huge problem...

Unless he has a local account he won't be able to login. Tell him to take it back to work and have the IT people re-add the client to the Domain authentication.

Lesson learned.
