I cannot log into any secure sites. Since I installed an update of AVG 7.0 a couple of days ago, I can no longer access any SSL sites such as my bank, my hotmail account or even Paypal, ebay, amazon.co.uk etc. All my security settings are as they always were. At first I panicked big time, but a friend suggested downloading FireFox. I can now get into all the sites that I previously could through FireFox, but this still doesn't help with the Internet Explorer problem. Not being able to get into MSN Messanger is a major inconvenience too. I even uninstalled the anti-virus software and still no success. Does anyone have any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!!

Try double checking your security settings in IE, also go to your advanced tab. Some sites use activeX controls etc. Make sure they are set on to "prompt" instead of outright blocking them. I had that problem as well. You can also tell IE to allow certain sites if they are being blocked. Most sites such as SSL use cookies.For some reason one day out of the blue, I could not access my ebay account either. I had to tell IE that ebay was a site to allow full cookie access. That may also be something you need to look into, cookie access.

Try start>run and type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll If that doesn't work, there are more steps to try in this KB article.
