cannot locate fdisk in Win XP

Comment:
Installed a new hard drive as a slave to the main, and Win XP finds the drive as new hardware, but does not list it in My Computer. Tried to search for fdisk as normal, but cannot locate the file. Any ideas on installing a new drive?

use the disk management plug-in in the computer management applet.
go to control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management -> disk management.
should be able to see your drive there now.

Jon, do as het69 suggested. You can format/partition the slave from there.

Cheers for the help guys. het69 seemed the simplest option, so went for that. Drive is currently formatting, so all appears well. I wrote some how to's for this site a while back, so it's nice to get some info from others out there.

You can't boot with a 98 a ME or 6 XP bootdisks! Windows XP will ignore them even if you change 1st boot sequence to foppy. The only way to use fdisk is to right click on your floppy drive in mycomputer(while in XP) and highlight format then make boot disk. Then restart your computer with the disk in your floppy drive. Windows will boot to command prompt then you can insert Win98 bootdisk to use fdisk.
