Go into your bios (usually by pressing delete when you first turn on computer) It will say it on the black screen what to press to get into it and when in bios look through the dif headings for somethin that says usb keyboard enabled/disabled and enable it.

This is a Dell computer. There is no setting in bios to enable/disable keyboard. This problem only happens when I try to install Win XP SR1. I can install Win XP SR2 (but this is an OEM disc from another computer which I tried just to prove it can be installed). I think if I was able to connect a PS2 keyboard I would be ok but there is no PS2 connection.

I got round the problem by 'Slipstreaming' Service Pack 2 with my Windows XP Pro SR1 onto a CDR disc and making it bootable. Installation wasn't without problems but I got there in the end. I got the slipstream information at this website.
