Whenever i install a game or software i get an error either saying "An I/O error has ouccurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file." or i get an error saying "Setup failed to extrat file or somting similar then saying this is usally caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or a corrupted cabinet file". I have tried formating my hard drive and used numerous harddrive and still get the problem. I also tried to change the ram/ide cable and still got the problem. Plz help

I may be in the same boat.
I recently D&A'd my computer, which may or may not be related to my current predicament.
My computer reboots. At first, I thought it was spontaneous. After paying closer attention, it seems to do it immediately after running certain programs. Install programs are particularly reliable for killing it. I get errors about I/O, as well as memory locations, and missing or corrupt DLL files.
If I make any changes to files or folders on my hard drive, in any partition, they are reset after the computer reboots. This means if I copy a folder, or make a text file, when the computer comes back up after a reboot, the folder or text file will no longer exist.
My current suspicion is that I've got a virus. I just need to figure out which one, and if I can install a program (without having it reboot) to get rid of it.

I am getting the same problem with larger files (like games) that I download. Smaller files work OK. I know it is not the connection because my other computer downloads the same file without problems. I then copy the file to a disk and install it on my HP desktop that cannot download the same file?? Driving me crazy as I don't know why this has started....
Any ideas would be wonderful!
