Hi
I recently rebuilt my laptop. It is in a workgroup(the default one). However I am trying to add it to a domain. This is the DOMAIN option when I right click on "my computer" then go to properties and computer name. There is no option for Network Identification Wizard and the DOMAIN option is grayed out. Ive tried renaming the workgroup but still no difference. I am logged with the administrator account.

Are you using WinXP home edition? If so, I don't think that is an option. I could be wrong.

May still be the case then. Below is an excerpt from the linked site.
Media Center Edition has all the benefits of Windows XP Home Edition, with the added Media Center functionality. Media Center Edition is not supported under Network Conductor due to the following limitation:
Cannot join a Windows Active Directory domain, which is required for Network Conductor and other corporate level applications. Active Directory simplifies management of machines, and allows for better security between computers on a corporate network.

No need to specify what DOMAIN is, but thanks for clarifying. I guess my first question is: What Domain are you trying to join? A domain at your place of employment? Or one that you've setup at home?

Can you ping the Domain Controller? As a user, you probably don't have the privileges to add the computer to the Domain. You'll need an Administrator to add the client to the Domain..
