Hi there

When I try to run msconfig, I get an error saying "windows cannot find msconfig".

Any ideas why this is?

Thanks

Mike

This usually indicates your path variable is incorrect.

Example of Oxymoron:
Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

I don't understand why you have a problem with the links above. Just click on them, to go to the respective pages.

Or do you mean you can't follow the instructions given on those pages? If that's the case, you are virtually unhelpable (sic) through a forum.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

that's a bit harsh, I've had lots of help on this forum before, so I am helpable - but just not as techy as you.

When someone like me needs help, they usually need it in simplistic form. The links just look too confusing to me thats all

Did you try using My Computer to look in the
c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries folder, to see if msconfig.exe is there?

If it's not there, I guess a virus (or something) might have deleted it (or the folder).

You could try an online virus check at

I've looked in Windows Explorer to find that path and the file is not there.

There are no viruses on my PC

Mike, Go to the link below and download the "MSCONFIG.EXE (for Windows 2000)". It is actually the Windows XP version. After you download it place it or a copy of it in your c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries folder.
