Can't restore,run updates or download antivirus software.Was running Norton 360 when this occured.Only updates are with Windows.Symantec tried to help , but only screwed-up my registry!No prpblem getting my E-mails.Would like to restore my original registry without reinstallng WinXP.

I did & Symantec Techs & Virus removal techs spent 4 days messing with my pc costing me $100 & leaving me worst off then before-kept insisting no viruses were present. They were able to uninstall 360 , but couln't reinstall 360 or any of their other av programs.
I can't download any other av program & when I tried to install an unused Norton SW(via CD) it wouldn.t update.
I can surf the net w\o any problems(Verizon FIOS),but can't download any software from the net. Can't restore WinXP to an older date-message after trying Unanle To Restore.

Portions of Norton may still be lurking in the registry. Try to find them & delete them. Disable Windows Firewall too, for now.

How about using Nortons removal tool and then try a reinstall? Of Norton that is.
