cannot defrag and chkdsk on start

OS: xp pro
CPU/Ram: amd 2200+, 512mb ram, Gf4

i had a hard drive crash not long ago, got things working again tho, and checkdisk comes up on startup everytime, and when i go to defrag it says that chkdsk is scheduled to run on disk volume c:, is it possible to turn it off so it dont happen??? it comes on b4 windows is loaded if thats any help

Did u try to start up your Pc with Start-up disc?Otherwise put a bad HD like master,then run applications like Disk Heakth etc,and see whats going on.Than first be sure that your hardware is good.Then u can with Partition magic check it,and see what the matter.Also try FitIT there are also tools for defrag.remember one thing.If your hardware is good,then its possible to everything.Good luck

well my hardware runs fine, no problems but his is only thing that is bugging me. i think its time for a format........ its been a few months
