Cannot copy to DVD drive

Several weeks ago my computer was near death but thanks to the efforts of folks here it now lives. I recently tried to copy a file to my DVD drive and received the error “Problem Copying, windows encountered a problem when trying . . .” I don’t know if this is a remnant of the past infestation or not. The drive can read disks and if I use Nero I can write to the disk, I just can not copy by drag and drop or copy and paste or create a new file. Any help would be appreciated (again).

Could you before? afaik, XP does not support DVD writing natively, only CD writing - so you would use something like Nero to write DVDs.

That was it. I just wrote files to a CD fine. Sometimes I am my own worse enemy. Thanks a lot for the help.

i have used my nec 3520a for years. it has worked well untill a few days ago. i have burned dvd's (memorex 16x)before. i opened a spendle of 100 and i can not get it to burn anything on them. i get this message. burn process failed at 2.4x at 3,312 kb's. can you help me? i have used all different brands, what ever is on sell, and have not had any trouble untill now. memorex help says since i can burn these dvd's on my mac that they can't help me. i only have trouble on this pc. i sure do need someone that knows what is wrong. thanks, duane
