A very weird problem.
Cannot connect to SMTP server (any SMTP server) on office computer, but works all right on cable modem connection at home. I can receive POP3 mail, but cannot send anything.
Description of office PC:
2.4GHz Intel Celeron, 128 MB RAM
O/S: Windows XP Home Edition
E-mail client: MS Outlook & Outlook Express.
Anti-virus software: Norton Anti-virus
Internet connection: dial-up, MSN
Firewall: none
Router: noneSteps I took to diagnose and resolve the problem:
1) To exclude e-mail client from the equation, I simply ran the following command from prompt:
/>telnet mail.server.com 25
Result: Connecting To mail.amerijock.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed
2) I brought the office computer home and connected it to my LAN - EVERYTHING WORKS.
3) In dial-up connection properties there is a checkbox for "Internet connection firewall". I attempted to connect with it turned on and off - makes no difference.
Thanks,
Ilya

if you are a pop 3 email. try uninstalling the account and reinstall it . but you will half to know the address for the smpt & pop3
that you are using. if this is web based mail you can do the same remove the account & reinstall the account . when you go to accounts it should list if it .if it is msn8 and you used msn 8 mail you should be web based mail. you should write down the error you are getting . and if you pay for msn you can call for tech support also. a little more info would be good too.
