cannot change drive in cmd

OS: winXP
CPU/Ram: 1,6GHz - 512MB
Comment:

when i start a cmd it starts automatically with the directory "c:\documents and settings\administrator". this is normal and not my problem.
but when i want to change the dir whith "cd" to d:, it comes the message "d:\" and the directory isn't changed.

tells you which the current directory is on D:

This:

d:

changes to the D: drive.
