Cannot burn JPG's with XP or Roxio

I have tried repeatedly to burn JPEG images that I have downloaded from my camera to CD. I tried using the "Windows XP" copy to disk feature as well as Roxio, but with XP I get a disk not formatted error. With Roxio I get a data not readable by windows. I was hoping to copy the images to disk that I might be able to view them on my DVD player but at least view them on PC.
