Comment:

I cannot access the Cisco netacademy website from a specific XP machine. I have tried at work on a windows 2000 and on a windows 98 computer and can get to the site no problems. But from this XP machine I cannot get to the site to login.
It started after Cisco's website crashed (yes). Ever since they bought it back up I cannot login from this machine.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? What do I need to do? I would prefer not to re-install because do not want to lose data.

Thanks people.

Three things may help:
1.Clear IE Temp Internet files, ciikies, history
2.Start / Run /type -- sfc /scannow
3. Start / Run / cmd to open a command prompt then re-register thre following dll's
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Make sure from the Help / about internet exoplorer---that you have 128-bit encryption

Search for the HOSTS file (I wish I could remember where it is) and open it with Notepad. Don't use any other editer but Notepad. Scroll till you find the Cisco listing and delete it. Save the HOSTS file. Reboot and you should be all set.
