I have recently installed a Netgear DG834G router on my pc and ever since then i have been unable to access the site https://paypal.com.

Has the router blocked access to secure sites and if so how do i unblock them ?

A router should not block any outgoing traffic.

Try switching off the firewall temporarily.

If you're running any sortware firewalls (zonealarm etc.) then turn these off also.

I have disabled Mcafee firewall but still no go. I've looked into the built in firewall in the router and it appears that it is not active as there are no radio buttons to choose to deactivate it.

I am also not able to access the site from my laptop but i had no problem today accessing it at work.

Just tried Paypal and horribly sluggish for me at the moment, took best part of 30 seconds to open the home page on a 512 DSL link.

Wouldn't open at all with Firefox.

Anybody else got problems with their site ?

have you tried https://www.paypal.com, ie, the secure site, that is where my problem lies. I can easily enter the http address but not the https address.

https://www.paypal.com/ loads up a little slower both on ie and FF but the site is working just fine.

is there any setting i could change in myrouter config that may possibly have any effect ?

I have used https://www.paypal.com for years without problem using my adsl modem but as soon as i've installed the router this has happened.

Running out of ideas unfortunately.

If you're able to get online and browse generally then no logical reason I can think of for Paypal to refuse you.

Any popup stoppers running in the background ?

Can't think it will do much good but you could try restarting your router or maybe set it back to factory default and start over ?

turned pop up blocker off but still no good.

I will try resetting/restarting the installation of the router again tomorrow, can't do any harm and you never know !!

Really appreciate your halp on this, many thanks

Hello... Not sure if it is helpful or not but I just accessed it in four seconds time. I am in Massachusetts, and I am on a Comcast cable connection.
Maybe the servers were just busy when you tried before?? Hope this helps a little; take care and good luck.

Mmmmmmm..........

MTU is a factor of your connection to your ISP and shouldn't have anything to do with accessing an individual website.

If it was indeed only PayPal you had a problem with this was not the problem.
