I was having a lot of problems with my systme and decided to reinstall windows xp. Well after i did that my only account that i had on the computer named, administrator is now gon from the welcome screen. the only other name listed is "sam" which i added durring the install. The problem now is that even though the account "sam" has administrator priveliges i cannot access the files from my previous account at all. I can see the folders where they exist in Explorer but as soon as i click on one of them an error message appears that says access denied: you do not have permission to access this folder. I desperately need to get access to these files. The main folder i am trying to access is my documents. is there any way to bypass windows error message and get to my files. Thank you for any help, Sam

boot into safe mode(f8) ,and choose administrator and enter the password if you have made one if not keep it blank.
you should not be using the administrator account as your personal account, this is the backup account to use to control the system and recover from personal account problems.

I still cant access them. I can't sign onto the account that has the files. It isn't an option on the welcome screen. I need a way to get my files without having it deny access. Thanks again

Thank you so much for the help. if you have any suggestions on this last question i would really appreciate it. thanks.
