Ever since I installed SP2 I cannot access any secure websites e.g. https:// everything else seems to work fine, I have tried uninstalling and that didn't work. Any ideas?

Check your firewall settings. Microsoft turns off certain capabilities by default to cover the fact that they don't put out a quality product. For example, in "upgrading" to Outbreak Express 6 from 5, you can no longer download attachments. You have to expressly configure it to do so.
In installing SP2, the service pack set your firewall to not allow access to secure sites.
