It Almost sounds like that URL has been added to your HOSTS file. Some people do that as jokes on their friends with other websites to make them redirect to other sites or to block things. Hosts file?... IN Windows it's in

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC THE "ETC" file holds some file called HOSTS. You can right click and open it with the "NOTEPAD" A normal Windows Host file is almost blank, Which is bad, because you can use it to block tons of bad sites and malicious things. Mvps.org has a great explanation on this. if you see a listing for Google/earth somewhere on there?...then delete it. It may look like this.
127.0.0.1 www.google.com/earth/index.html
The Hosts file blocks your computer from even going to sites or THEM from even connecting to your computer. This can be used as a great layer of protection too.

If NOT? then maybe try Googling your exact problem and looking in different forums.
