Hello there, I was loading Works7 when it appeared it had frozen after a short while. So I cancelled and removed Software disc. I tried to reload but now there appears to be no access to my D:/ drive. The works7 disc is not acknowledged and any other type I put in is not doing anything. I can open the drawer and insert discs but it will not accept them. Does this mean that some of the loading files of Works have caued this. What do I run to get out of this? I do not think I will be able to even reinstall my product recovery disc. So I am stuck. Thanks as always.

If I open the draw to the drive and carefully check the optic I noticed it is jammed.

Seems like your drive died. It's too expensive to repair. If it's a CD drive I suggest you replace it with a CD/DVD R/W combination drive.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Yes, The drawer still works fine and the amber indicator flashes. I was intalling Works and the loading froze. It was genuine MS as well.

Finally laid my DVD/drive to rest. Was getting I/O error messages. Purchased a stand alone DVD/CD re-writer comb. Personally I've learnt a lesson that if you equate what you waste on CDR's (coasters) it's more finacially viable to do this. No good resurrecting a dying ...
