I was running Win2kpro and installed XP on a seperate partition but I never got a promp asking for which to boot.
Now, my comp only boots in XP. Can I change setting to dual boot?

Many computers dual boot these with no problems but mine had the same problem as yours.
My solution was posted as follows:****
As you know the issue is the files c:\ntldr and C:\ntdetect.com which are different for both OS's.
First I copied the XP version of these files to a folder then used the W2k
setup disks to restore its boot before copying the W2k files to another folder.Next I put both folders onto a W98 system floppy along with W98 attrib.exe
and placed a copy of boot.ini in both folders editing them so they were limited to that OS.Finally I wrote a couple of batch files designed to replace the files on C:\
with the ones in the appropriate folder.May not be elegant but it worked for me.

You will need to use your W2k setup floppies to restore your boot files or I can email them to you on request.

what if u use a non ms boot loader?.. like.. lilo?.. i'm sure that would work.. right if configured correctly right?

By far the easiest and simplest method has to be changing your boot drive in the CMOS.
If you have an old machine, this may not be possible, but all new machines (with a half decent motherboard/BIOS) allow you to change the boot drive.Remember to make sure that the drive you are booting to is formatted with a system (say win98) unless you intend on booting from floppy disk, before you install your second OS.
Once yer new OS is installed, to change OS, just change the boot drive in the CMOS.
