can xp&98 use same programs?

Can you use the same programs at the same location for two operating systems? As in, 98 on c: and XP on d:, and both using netscape in c:program files?
I want to run a dual boot, but I don't want to isntall everything twice, if it's not needed.

you can install the same prog into the same folder with both OS's but what happens when you want to delete 98?, things are goung to be messed up do yourself a favour & install into their own folders
