Can use SmartPage scanner with XP?

I am wanting to use my old EasyPhoto SmartPage scanner with my new Gateway 500X PC. First,it looks like I need a new card as the old one has not prayer of fitting. So, two questions: would a universal pci card do the trick and will Windows XP support this scanner anyway???? Thanks!
