Can anyone help with a problem? Ihave a PII 333MHz running on a PC Chips M741LMRT board.Originally supported '98, then upgraded to Me. No problems. When I did a pre-install test for XP Pro it reported hardware compatibility problems for CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio device, saying it might need additional files. After going to web site for C-Media I downloaded & installed new audio device & driver, but I still have no sound whatsoever. Does anyone know if this is something to do with the board ; do I need to buy a sound card & install it, or buy a different motherboard or is it just a software problem? Coz I'm B'ged if I can work it out. Hope someone can help me on this, thanks. P.

I don't know what driver you found for your sound. Was it an xp driver?I have a chips moboard with onboard sound by the same company as yours.I got it to work by using the win 2k driver as no xp driver was made by the company. If you still can't get it to work with the 2k driver,an add on sound card should work if you have a slot for it.You may have to disable the onboard soundcard either in your bios or with a jumper on the moboard.Check the manual for your moboard if you are unsure.
