Can not set or change Time

Microsoft Windows xp professional w/serv...

Specs: Windows XP, AMD dual core/2gb
Can not set or change time in xp. Can change in
bios ok. Will not work from the bar or control
panel. When I click nothing happens at all. This
is a new install on new hardware. Just the time
utility will not run

Are you logging in as Admin, or are you logging as a "user" and thus may have restricted privileges?

mmm not one I've had to deal with yet (fortunately...).

A trawl via google/yahoo etc. - using the string:

cannot set date and time in XP

brings up a few hits...

One or two below...

Althugh I'm not sure they willl help here; but worth to try the M$-tweak at least?

And maybe do a similar trawl/search yourself; as there are range of ideas etc. out there re' this porblem... (Sadly you ain't alone with this one - although it's not that common a

My research makes me think I might need to install or replace the file timedate.cpl. I do not have access to that pc right now will try soon.
