I have searched the forum archives for answers and when I tried to follow the instructions on how to do it I get the following error messages:
For a .OCX file I get: 'filename'.ocx is not an executable file and no registration help is registered for this file type
For a .DLL file I get: 'filename'.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. The file can not be registered.
I can not run the program I need to register the files for. This seems to happen no matter which .ocx or .dll files I try to register. Please help. TIA
Software gives me a headache.
For the OCX, i'm not sure what to tell ya. Sounds like it's not really an OCX, or is corrupted.
For the DLL, that error means that the DLL doesn't have the code inside it to register itself. Often that means it wasn't meant to be registered in the first place, but in other cases another DLL, or an installer, may be able to register it.
Simple fix: reinstall the app. An installer will almost always register the files right, no matter how they need to be registered. If it didn't, the company would have masses of angry customers.
