Hello,
I have tried to increase my pagefile or use 2 pagefiles in 2 drivers using setting virtual memory menu but It doesn't work. After restarting computer, it is still 551 MB in C drive - the system recommended value.
Please help. Thanks.

Increase your RAM. The min default setting is usually 1½ times your RAM and max is set at 2½ the RAM.

Pvanh,

Why do you want to increase your page file size?
If you are getting Out of memory errors then there is likely something else wrong.

Justme is fairly correct (1.5-3) about getting more RAM even though 374 is a fairly good amount. (that is an odd amount of RAM; are you sure it's not 384 or even 376 coinciding with sharing memory with your video?)

Between your RAM and pagefile you have 925 MB of memory at a minimum available and 1,496MB Maximum (using your numbers).

If you are using up that much memory then you should look at using some or all of the recommended tools to clean up any malware on your PC.

If you are wanting to increase your pagefile size instead of using up all of your RAM then you want to think differently. RAM is much faster than virtual memory because it has no moving parts. Also, unused RAM is, essentially, wasted RAM particularly if virtual memory was used instead.

a common mistake is not clicking on the SET button when making changes to the paging file.

Two pagefiles on the same disk slows your system down. fYI

Thank you very much for your help.

I sure know that there is a problem with my Crimson Editor because when I use it, it takes 400MB virtual memory from my system just to read about 30MB data. But I still have to use this Editor because I need it for some applications.

I have tried to reinstall this Editor but it has no effect. Now there is always the message "Virtual memory minimum too low" when I using Crimson Editor. That's why I want to increase much more Pagefile size.

Normally (several months ago) I still can change pagefile size the way I want, but now I can not change it anymore (it always has the system default size). Do you know why?

Try going with allowing the System Managed Size and it will establish the amounts.

I am using the System Managed settings and it shows the minimum set at 2MB and the Recommended and Current at ~1.5 times my RAM amount (1533MB).

Otherwise try the Custom size; setting the Initial size at 561MB and the Maximum size at 1122MB being 1.5 and 3 times your RAM amount.
