Hi
I am running XP Pro and recently whenever I try to go into Hibernate or Standby,
I get a message saying that the keybord driver is preventing the system from going into it.
After I click ok, then the mouse pointer disappers for a while till I use it to click and
open something. I tried uninstalling drivers for both the keyboard and mouse, but the problem
is still there. Any ideas on whats going on?Thanks,
Joe

Well, DId You or someone built the computer for you?? If So the IEEE 1394 wires are loose. can u shut down or restart?? if you can then u should be able to stand by. Or if you want to take the hard way then change your os.

Yes, I did build it myself, but it shuts down and restarts just fine. Can not Hibernate or Standby. I used to able to till now. I dont think I can give up XP just b/c it cant go into stand by. There has to be a way to fix it. But, thanks for your input

I had the same problem (with a Dell) - and same error message. Dell didn't have any idea either. I even tried installing a new driver for the keybd, rolling back, etc.
Dell tech service recommended not using any of the power managment options. Pretty much a non-solution, but it seems to work - I only shut off the monitor via the power management, and this has never had any problems..
Hope someone can provide some help...

i get this when my video card drivers are missing....(i have a riva and the drivers are messed up, so they just install when wever they want) whe the drivers are missing, the stand by and hibernate functions are missing. try going to device manager and checking if that is the case.
also check for otehr drivers that might be acting stupid.
good luck..

ps let me know if that the case...(your video card drivers)..

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried updating the driver for my Visiotek GeF3Ti, but that didnt fix the problem. I was wondering if the power supply could be a problem b/c I have had some concerns abt it.
Any more ideas?By the way, not hosting ICS

I had a similar problem with my logitech keyboard. Try using generic drivers for the keyboard- that's what i had to do.
