when I try to empty the recycle bin it gives error message "cannot delete. :The filename, directory name, volume label syntax is incorrect"

Trying the same in safe mode also is unable to silve the problem.
In dos mode also unable to delete the content of c:\recycled\*.* . Even cannot delete the c:\recycled. Though it shows a folder name "fs77". kindly help.....

Search the web for free program MoveOnBoot.
I YAHOO

Hi,
Try No.64 right side (Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin in Windows XP) from this link...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
download to your desktop and run it.

Thanks bobhome and chuck2 for the suggestions. Unfortunately both did not work. I think the problem can be resolved by deleting the recycle bin some how. But I dont know how to do it???????

Hi,
Are you sure it is your recycle bin at fault or just one of the items in it that will not delete?? Have you double clicked on recycle bin, and tried to remove the files idividually. you will then find the problem file.

Use CCleaner it should be your ticket. Go to www.downloads.com and on top in search type CClener

1. Thanks bobhome and nic123 for the advice. Yes it is true that there is only one folder in the recycle bin which I can see in DOS mode. otherwise it is not visible. I am unable to delete this folder even in dos mode.
2. I tried ccleaner also as suggested by nic123. The ccleaner detects the folder of 1.30 Mb but is unable to clean it. I think the possible solution is to delete the recycle bin but, hot to do it??????
