I had a problem where I couldn't delete a folder using Safe mode, regedit or any of the other methods I found online...
In Windows XP if you run command or cmd and the default path is the same as the path of the folder you are trying to delete then this will solve your problem...
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
Local Users and groups > Users > Administrator > Profile > Local path
set the local path to be different than the current folder path which you can not delete.
Restart the computer and delete the folder!
If this doesn't work make sure you are logged on as Administrator or change the Local path for the current user.
If this helps anyone PLEASE e-mail me and let me know =)

hey how about u try this, open up the command prompt first! then bring up the taskmanager, now go to processes and shut down explorer.exe, now ur taskbar will go away, but ur command prompt will still be there, using the prompt go to the folder u want to get rid of and type del and the path of the folder etc. to delete it, after ur done, go to start new task from the task manager, and type Explorer.exe to get ur taskbar back! thats it! it works for files that are protected such as viruses and crummy trojans ect. i hope that helps! this happened to me once, and this worked for me. let me know if it works! good luck!
