so he can cleanly install windows xp using the windows98 (98SE?) upgrade disc as qualifying software?
or he must have windows 98 loaded (upgrade or full) to use the XP upgrade disk?
Im only asking because i assumed windows OS upgrades needed a full version of the previous OS to qualify. Thanks

I can't undrestand what do you wana do. if you want to have a clean install of XP it's not upgrade... but if you mean you have an upgrade win98 and you want to upgrade it to winXP it's possible with no problem.or even if you want to have a clean install of XP over win98 upgrade it's possible too.

Ok here is what you CAN do:
If you have a previous version of Windows98 INSTALLED on your computer, you CAN use the upgrade disk to do a CLEAN install on a SEPERATE HD or partition.
On the other hand, you CANNOT use the upgrade CD to do a clean install of XP on the same partition or HD.
