Hi All,
I am about to replace my 233mhz mobo, I am looking at the ECS nforce3-a and the sempron 3100, 64bit. Can I use my existing software on the new comp? Will all my software work on the 64bit machine? I have some opinions and would appreciate more input and suggestions.

I thank you in advance for any suggestions or ideas you may have,
frank

Of course you can. Qouted from this MS XP Pro x64 Edition overview:

Most Windows-compatible 32-bit applications run "as is" in a subsystem of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition with comparable performance to 32-bit Windows.

The hardware is not as much of a factor as the Operating System. If you are currently running XP 32bit, then all the software should run on the new machine if you run XP 32bit.

If you were running a different operating system (95/98) and you will be upgrading to XP (32bit), there could be some problems. Even though they are al running in 32bit there are some compatibility issues.

Likewise if you go with XP 64-bit there is even more room for compatibility issues. XP 32bit can run 32bit or 16bit software. XP 64bit can run 64bit and 32bit software, but ot 16bit.

You should check the internet to see if there are any compatibility issues with any important software you have to see if it is supported with the OS you will use.
