Reply: (edit)All the laptops that I have worked on had built in video. Not saying there are not some that don't have vid cards crammed in somewhere. I just haven't ran across any. So I venture to say that the only way to upgrade persay would be by a bios fix/patch IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE, swim with the current; in matters of principle, STAND LIKE A ROCK

Reply: (edit)I agree with lurkeswithin. I have never seen a laptop with anything but built in video and certainly with Dell. I'mm typing this on a Dell laptop and that has not got a replaceable video card. Stuart

Reply: (edit)If your laptop will handle the extra ram then by all means increase it. I personally think you should have all the ram possible. The problem being that you are playing games on a laptop and they are just noteably known for being slow on games. Mostly due to the use of the plasma screen. Plasma screens are just slower than regular monitors. As to the graphics, some of the newer games tax the higher valued graphics cards too. What you can do is tweak your laptop to a gaming mode which will help a little but not really that much. They just were not designed for that usage as much as for business applications/portability IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE, swim with the current; in matters of principle, STAND LIKE A ROCK

Reply: (edit)98% of all laptops cannot have their "videocards" upgraded. They are built into the motherboard. 99% of all laptop use TFT LCD moniotrs. I have no idea why the other poster mentiond "plasma". The power requirments for plasma do not make them a good candidate for laptops. They do make "gaming Laptops" such as Alienware and others, but they cost 3000 dollars and up.
