i cant play any of my game on windows xp.the only game that i can play is The Sims, whats up with that.

Might need to update your video card drivers. Did you do a clean install of XP? If not old drivers from the previous OS can muck things up. All recent games should work fine on XP, as well as many old DOS games even.

I have a major problem, i have a not so new nvidia 3d card, and since installing windows xp i cant play my games iether, i've tried installing new drivers, and the games work, BUT then my mpeg play back is all dodgy (blocky, bad resolution)

Try playing the games in the compatibilty mode and if this does not work and all your divers are upto date then the only available option to play the old games is to dual/triple (OS) boot the system.(XP/98/95).

Are you getting any specific errors? I've been trying to get all my 6 year olds games to work. All have thus far, with the exception of Toy Story Power Play (unable to link to KERNEL32.DLL error) and My Interactive Pooh's display is all garbled. The dozen other's all work fine. Some need compatibility mode checked though.

I'm running XP pro and and enduring endless frustration too - in particular Return to Castle Wolfenstein (problems with Open GL) & Red Faction (crashing on install), also my Guillemot FF Joystick drivers supposed updated for XP and Thrustmaster Formula Pro Digital Wheel are not being recognised. Apart from that everything else has been good albeit Worms Armageddon runs slowly for some reason

I had the same problem and was going crazy. Here is what I did and it worked!!!
Its a directx problem,
I opened the dxdiag from run, click the display tab and disable the directx features (Direct Draw - Direct 3d - AGP TExt) and click ok then exit the program. Now reopen dxdiag and enable the 3 features, click exit and try your games.
Don't ask me why it works but it did.I was gettin so frustrated.
