If u install XP on a new (unformatted) drive, the only option given to u will be NTFS.
If u partition/format first with a Win98 disk, then when u install XP, u will be given the choice to either stick with FAT32 or convert to NTFS - the choice is yours.
Hope this helps

You cant install Xp on a fresh Harddisk. First Install 98 which is FAT32 and the upgrade to Xp and your file sysytem remain FAT32. Good luck
But with FAT32 you cant compress your harddisk and index them for free space and easy assess try coverting the filesys to NTFS: I can help you with that if you want.
Good luck.
