Hi all,

I have already installed Norton Anti virus program on my win xp machine.
When I tried to installed another Panda plantinum antivirus then during installation I got a message that I already have a antivirus prg which I should remove(recommeded).
Now I wonder, can I have two antivirus pgr on the same machine to protect it better from virus.
Do I need panda if I already have norton antivirus pgr?
Any help in this regard

No; that would be asking for trouble. anti-Virus programs are tightly integrated with windows and all use the same API's; installing 2 would cause all sorts of conflicts.

From my experience most times 2 AV programs won't work but some will like Norton and AVG (full ver.).

If one uses the testing results from Virus Bulletin that is one of the antivirus certification labs, the choice would be Norton. You can also check out the ratings at PF Flank, wilders.org, Web Attack, thepublicworks, the user ratings at cnet downloads and the various PC Magazines for more testing and satisfaction results. Other programs that are highly rated are Etrust from Computer Associates, NOD32 from ESET, Solo from srnmicro, and the free pprogram, AVG from Grisoft. All these companies have a free trial period, which includes updates, unlike Panda.

Can you have 2 antivirus programs on one machine?
Yes and no.
If you use the monitoring protection on only one av program and use the second program as an on-demand scanner you can do that. One is a backup for scanning only.
I do it that way right now!

If you want to fully install two av programs, then you are asking for trouble.
If you do get a virus while you have two av programs monitoring your computer, they will likely conflict with each other!!
I wouldn't try that!!!
You could lock up or freeze your system.Or worse!!!
Regards,
JB.
